Wine is often made by people who manage to express their personality in their wine. Dave Powell may not be with Torbreck, the winery he founded, any more but when I try this wine I think of Dave, his larger than life persona and think to myself, yep - this is Dave's wine.
No doubt Mr Powell will be back with something amazing soon enough and I look forward to it with the same excitement some people have waiting for the next episode of Star Wars!
Woodcutter's Shiraz is the entry level wine from Torbreck and a blend of their younger vineyards in the Barossa Valley. It is you would expect from a Barossa Shiraz and more. If you love Aussie Shiraz, you will love this at it's price point.
Cassis, blueberry and a little smokey on the nose. Loads of dense blackberry and liquorice to follow with a hint freshness about the finish.
